The Cangzhou Economic Development Zone is a provincial-level development zone established in 1992 with the approval of the Hebei Provincial Government. Located in the southeastern part of downtown Cangzhou, it has a planned area of 40 square kilometers and a developed area of 17 square kilometers. Currently, it comprises seven villages and has a registered permanent population of 22,000. As a core component of Cangzhou’s central urban area, it serves as a key new industrial zone for the city’s development and is one of the 11 development zones prioritized for construction by the Hebei Provincial Government.In 2015, it was designated a “Hebei Province Grade A Development Zone”; in 2016, it was recognized as a “Hebei Province New Industrialization Demonstration Base” and a “Hebei Province Innovative and Distinctive Development Pilot”; in December 2017, it was officially designated as a “Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Modern Manufacturing Reception Platform” and a “Provincial Key Cultivated 100-Billion-Yuan-Level Development Zone”;In 2018, it was designated by the Hebei Provincial Government as a core component of the Cangzhou Modern Industrial Base. In 2019, the zone was successively approved as a “Key International Cooperation Industrial Park of Hebei Province” and a “Demonstration Base for Strategic Emerging Industries of Hebei Province.”

The zone has established an industrial system dominated by automotive and auto parts, biopharmaceuticals, and high-end pipeline equipment manufacturing, and is currently accelerating the cultivation of emerging industries such as aerospace, new materials, and intelligent connected vehicles.The automotive manufacturing sector, symbolized by the Beijing Hyundai Cangzhou Plant, has emerged as a leading force, attracting 25 high-quality, high-end projects such as Hyundai Mobis, BAIC Demos, BAIC Han-Yi, and Zhongdu Groove Vision, with cumulative investment in supporting projects exceeding 30 billion yuan.With an eye on the future automotive market, the city has extended and diversified its upstream and downstream industrial chains, forming a comprehensive automotive industry ecosystem that spans complete vehicles, new energy vehicles, smart connected vehicles, key components, R&D and testing centers, incubation bases, and aftermarket services. This has directly created 6,000 jobs and indirectly supported 24,000 jobs, while driving over 3 billion yuan in investment from upstream and downstream supporting enterprises, establishing itself as a “new industrial landmark” for Cangzhou.
