The Shihezi Economic and Technological Development Zone is located in Shihezi City, in the central part of the Northern Tianshan Economic Belt in Xinjiang. It was established in 1992 with the approval of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region People’s Government. In April 2000, it was upgraded to a national-level development zone with the approval of the State Council.
