Park Overview
The Shanxi Comprehensive Reform Demonstration Zone for Economic Transformation, commonly known as the Shanxi Comprehensive Reform Zone, is a national pilot zone for comprehensive supporting reforms aimed at transforming resource-based economies, approved by the State Council on November 25, 2010. The Shanxi Comprehensive Reform Zone was officially established on November 4, 2016. In December 2020, it was selected as a national pilot city for integrated industrial development. The Shanxi Comprehensive Reform Zone is China’s first comprehensive reform demonstration zone for economic transformation.
The total planned area of the Shanxi Comprehensive Reform Zone is 589.57 square kilometers. It comprises four national-level development zones—including the Xuefu Industrial Park and Tanghuai Industrial Park within Taiyuan City and Jinzhong City, the Taiyuan Wuxu Comprehensive Bonded Zone, and the Jinzhong Huitong Industrial Park; three provincial-level development zones, including the Yangqu Industrial Park, the Jinzhong New Energy Vehicle Park, and the Shanxi Science and Technology Innovation City; and the Shanxi University Town Industrial Park. Additionally, the newly established Xiaohe Industrial Park brings the total to nine industry-academia-research parks, with expansion zones planned to the south and north.
The Shanxi Comprehensive Reform Demonstration Zone for Transformation and the Tai-Xin Integrated Economic Zone will be developed as the northern and southern engines driving the growth of the Central Shanxi Urban Cluster, thereby establishing a “one core, two wings” development pattern for Taiyuan City.
