Development Zone Introduction
The Shuozhou Economic and Technological Development Zone was established in 1991. In October 1996, it was approved as a provincial-level development zone by the People’s Government of Shanxi Province. Located in the northeastern part of the city, the zone has a total planned area of 16.4 square kilometers, with 4 square kilometers designated for mid-term development and 1.2 square kilometers for the initial development phase. The zone enjoys a uniquely advantageous geographical location and convenient transportation links. The North Tongpu Railway and Dayun Highway run east-west through the area, while Pingzhou Airport and Huairen Airport offer direct flights to Beijing, Shanghai, and other destinations. Shuozhou is rich in mineral resources, primarily coal, and is home to the large-scale Shentou No. 1 and No. 2 Power Plants. Infrastructure construction for “seven utilities and one leveling” has been preliminarily completed in small-scale areas within the zone.
