The Wutai Modern Agricultural Industrial Demonstration Zone, anchored by the Yangbai Modern Agricultural Circular Economy Park, integrates the Donglei Agricultural Science and Technology Demonstration Park and the Doucun Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) Herbal Industry Park. It is developed and managed according to a “one zone, three parks” model, with a total planned area of 101 square kilometers. Its leading industries are the TCM herbal industry and functional agriculture (food processing), while supporting industries include specialty crop cultivation, protected-environment vegetable production, and furniture manufacturing.
Adhering to the concept of green development, the Wutai Modern Agricultural Industrial Demonstration Zone vigorously promotes structural reform on the supply side of agriculture. Leveraging its resource advantages, convenient transportation, and solid development foundation, the zone has designated the Chinese herbal medicine industry as its leading sector and a key pillar for lifting the county’s impoverished population out of poverty and increasing their income. The scale of the Chinese herbal medicine industry—including Tai Mushroom, Tai Ginseng (Tai Dangshen), Tai Astragalus, and Angelica sinensis—has grown steadily, with last year’s cultivation area reaching 3,066 hectares.The county has established six Chinese herbal medicine cultivation bases and three processing bases, initially forming a favorable landscape where the Chinese herbal medicine industry and functional agriculture serve as leading sectors, driving the integrated development of the primary, secondary, and tertiary industries. At the same time, the county has successfully created the regional public brand “Wutai Zaixuan,” resolutely pursuing a path of agricultural revitalization through quality, green practices, and branding.
