The Dawang Economic Development Zone is located within Dawang Town, Guangrao County. It was approved by the provincial government as a provincial-level economic development zone in December 2010. The zone has a planned area of 9.41 square kilometers and a built-up area of 4.86 square kilometers. Its boundaries are as follows: east to the town boundary, south to Production Road No. 10, west to 1,000 meters west of Diaomeng Road, and north to Production Road No. 02.The economic development zone was planned and designed by the Provincial Urban and Rural Planning and Design Institute, featuring high-standard thematic industrial parks for mechanical electronics, rubber tires, and fine chemicals. Its leading industries include papermaking and printing, automotive parts, rubber tires, and fine chemicals.The Dawang Development Zone is the first provincial-level economic development zone established in a township in Shandong Province. It has now developed into the world’s largest single-plant newsprint production base, a major national R&D, manufacturing, and export hub for automotive friction materials, a key national cluster for radial tire production, and a major provincial base for salt and petrochemicals as well as tubeless steel wheel production.In 2010, enterprises in the park with annual output value exceeding a certain threshold achieved a total industrial output value of 49 billion yuan, completed fixed-asset investments of 4.96 billion yuan, and generated local fiscal revenue of 217 million yuan.
