In 2008, in a comprehensive evaluation of the province’s 147 provincial-level development zones, the Tai’erzhuang Economic Development Zone ranked second in the province in terms of development performance and first among the 79 development zones in the western region. It was recognized by the Provincial Department of Commerce as one of the province’s 30 “Scientific Development Zones.” The zone comprises the Private Industrial Park, Wangchao Industrial Park, Lumian Textile Industrial Park, Paper Industry Park, and Science and Education Park.The development zone possesses an annual production capacity of 200,000 tons of yarn, 50 million meters of denim, 30 million meters of greige fabric, and 30,000 tons of machined products, and has preliminarily established an industrial system encompassing chemicals, papermaking, textiles, and machining.Relying on the development of the economic belt along the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal, the Development Zone focuses on attracting high-tech, high-value-added, and export-oriented projects, with a priority on developing industries such as machinery processing, textiles, apparel, and biopharmaceuticals.
