The Shandong Dong'e Economic Development Zone is a provincial-level development zone. Originally known as the Dong'e County Science and Technology Industrial Park, it was established in 2003 and is located in Dong'e County, the "Hometown of Ejiao." In March 2006, the provincial government approved its renaming to the Shandong Dong'e Industrial Park; in September 2012, it was officially renamed the Shandong Dong'e Economic Development Zone.
After nearly 20 years of development, the Development Zone has become a growth engine for Dong'e's economic development. During this process, Zhang Chuanxuan, the first Party Secretary of the County Committee, and Huo Gaoyuan, the first County Magistrate, played significant roles.
