The Zhaoyuan Economic Development Zone is a provincial-level development zone established with the approval of the Shandong Provincial People’s Government. Located in the northeastern part of Zhaoyuan City, it is integrated with the old city area. The zone covers a total area of 16 square kilometers, with 8 square kilometers designated for industrial parks.The development zone is bordered by Yantai Airport and Yantai Port to the east, Longkou Port to the north, and the Jiaozhou-Jinan Railway to the south. It is 130 kilometers from Qingdao Airport and Qingdao Port. The Class I highway connecting Longkou Port to Qingdao Port runs through the zone.The zone has achieved “five utilities and one leveling,” with three 3.5 kVA power supply and substation facilities, a daily water supply capacity exceeding 10,000 metric tons, and two primary and secondary schools accommodating 3,500 students. The zone also features unique natural hot springs and a dedicated hot spring hotel.
Currently, there are more than 70 enterprises of various types in the zone, including 25 foreign-invested enterprises.Total investment by these enterprises amounts to $93.976 million, with contracted foreign capital of $38.64 million and actual capital disbursement of $31.34 million. More than 10 high-tech enterprises have been established in the zone, including Jinbao Electronics, Gaoxiang Electronics, Membrane Engineering, and Weida Silicone. The zone exports 33 different products.A wide range of products—including copper foil, copper-clad laminates, color-coated steel sandwich panels for construction, printed circuit boards, magnetic cores, membrane equipment, silicone, Longkou vermicelli, rabbit-fur sweaters, and handicrafts—enjoy a high reputation both domestically and internationally.
