The Qingdao Rubber Valley Industrial Park covers a total area of 65 mu. Built upon the renovation of the former Qingdao Woodworking Machinery Factory’s old factory buildings, the park leverages the disciplinary and talent advantages of Qingdao University of Science and Technology, as well as the university’s strengths in soft control R&D. Adopting a model of “government promotion, association leadership, university support, corporate participation, and intermediary services,” the park focuses on clustering and developing emerging high-tech industries characterized by rubber polymer materials, green chemical engineering, and environmental protection technologies.The plan is to establish, within 5 to 10 years, a global hub for high-end talent innovation and entrepreneurship, a leading and influential center for cutting-edge rubber technology R&D and the formulation of advanced standards, and a national-level science and technology industrial park. Rubber Valley has been successively designated as a National Modern Service Industry Rubber Industrialization Base, a National Patent Industrialization Pilot Base, a National Copyright Trading Center, and a National Demonstration Base for Industry-University-Research Collaboration and Innovation.
