The Shanxian Economic Development Zone is a provincial-level economic development zone approved by the Shandong Provincial Government in March 2006. It has a planned area of 35 square kilometers, with a currently developed area of 21 square kilometers.Over the past decade, under the strong leadership of the County Party Committee and County Government and with the strong support of all sectors of society, the Shanxian Economic Development Zone has developed into a modern East City New District characterized by the integration of industry and urban development and serving as a multifunctional, comprehensive hub. Its overall strength has consistently ranked among the top two provincial-level development zones in Heze City.

In 2017, the number of industrial enterprises above designated size reached 230, generating main business revenue of 63.7 billion yuan. This has formed a new industrialization pattern characterized by base-led development, cluster-driven growth, and project-based support, with leading industries such as fine chemicals, agricultural and sideline product processing, and machinery manufacturing beginning to take shape.Shandong Shangshun Chemical Co., Ltd., a listed company within the zone, has been designated by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology as a “Demonstration Enterprise for Single-Champion Manufacturing” because its rubber accelerator product series has ranked first in the world in both production and sales for 10 consecutive years and continues to maintain a leading technological edge;The Longevity Food Town integrates industry, tourism, community, and cultural functions, focusing on the “big health” industries—including food, pharmaceuticals, and wellness—to highlight the dietary culture of “China’s Homeland of Longevity” and the region’s distinctive collaborative development model. It has now been included in Shandong Province’s second batch of characteristic town development initiatives;Guoneng Shanxian Bio-power Co., Ltd. is the first national-level bio-power demonstration project under State Grid Corporation of China to utilize a new type of environmentally friendly clean-combustion mechanism; the Shanxian High-Tech Entrepreneurship Service Center is a national-level science and technology enterprise incubator certified by the Torch Center of the Ministry of Science and Technology; and the Shanxian Chemical Industry Park is among the first batch of provincial-level chemical industrial parks recognized by the provincial government.
