Established in 1992, the Dongying Economic and Technological Development Zone was upgraded to a national-level development zone in March 2010. It is the first and only national-level development zone in the Yellow River Delta region and in Dongying City. Covering an area of 721 square kilometers, it administers the Dongcheng and Shengli subdistricts,with a permanent population of nearly 501,000. It has been successively designated as a National High-Tech Industrial Standardization Demonstration Zone, a National Demonstration Zone for Well-Known Brands in the Copper and Copper Products Industry, a National Circular Economy Standardization Demonstration Zone, a National Pilot Zone for Building a Strong Intellectual Property Nation, a National Green Industrial Park, and a National Copyright Demonstration Zone.
