Chengdu Science City covers a planned area of 132 square kilometers, with the initial development zone spanning approximately 73 square kilometers. It accurately embodies its strategic positioning as “a scientific hub and center of technological innovation with national influence, the innovation epicenter of the Western (Chengdu) Science City, the main base of the Comprehensive National Science Center, and the host for Tianfu Laboratories and national laboratories.” Guided by the principles of “centralized core, concentrated zones, and pooled resources,”the city has arranged seven major functional clusters, including the Luxi Smart Valley Science Center, under the framework of “One Center, Two Bases, One Island, and Three Parks.” It is dedicated to building a “new-era park city” characterized by “multifunctional integration, work-life balance, comprehensive services, and a pleasant environment for both work and residence.”
Chengdu Science City is committed to building a Comprehensive National Science Center as its guiding principle, aligning with major national strategies. It has established 11 major scientific infrastructure facilities and interdisciplinary research platforms, such as the Z-pinch-driven hybrid energy device, and has attracted over 40 national-level research institutions, including those affiliated with the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the China National Nuclear Corporation. Additionally, it has introduced 43 collaborative innovation platforms involving universities, research institutes, and local governments, such as the Tsinghua Sichuan Energy Internet Research Institute, and has gathered 289 high-level talents and over 5,000 top-tier scientific researchers.It has preliminarily established an innovation system encompassing “basic research—technological breakthroughs—commercialization of results.” Focusing on key digital economy sectors such as artificial intelligence, integrated circuits, 5G communications, and information security, it has attracted over 100 leading enterprises—including Unisplendour Group, Hikvision, and SenseTime—and gathered more than 3,600 upstream and downstream companies;We have continuously improved the ecosystem for high-tech service industries, attracting over 60 high-tech service institutions and fostering more than 430 high-tech enterprises; adhering to the “people-city-industry” urban development logic, we have systematically advanced the construction of comprehensive supporting facilities, including major functional infrastructure, public amenities, industrial parks, and housing for talent. We have completed and put into use ecological projects such as the Luxi Wetland, Zhigu Greenway, and Fengqi Wetland, constructed 60 km of urban greenways, and increased the proportion of ecological space in the built-up area to 42%.
