Yibin Sanjiang New Area, approved by the Sichuan Provincial Government on February 18, 2020, is the province’s first provincial-level new area. With a planned area of 389 square kilometers and an actual administrative area of 420 square kilometers, it comprises four subdistricts and two towns. The area features a range of open development platforms, including a national-level economic and technological development zone, a comprehensive bonded zone, a national temporary open port, and a collaborative zone of the Sichuan Pilot Free Trade Zone. It has a permanent population of 420,000 and a built-up area of 56 square kilometers.Since its establishment, the New Area has received numerous honors, including the national “People’s Satisfaction Civil Servant Collective,” National Mass Entrepreneurship and Innovation Demonstration Base, National Demonstration Base for New Industrialization in Electronic Information, National Industrial Transformation and Upgrading Demonstration Zone, and National Foreign Trade Transformation and Upgrading Base. Its growth rates for key economic indicators rank among the top four provincial-level new areas, and it has improved its ranking in the CCID Consulting Top 100 List of Urban New Areas with Development Potential, placing 15th nationwide.In 2024, GDP exceeded 60 billion yuan, and the core area—the Lingang Economic and Technological Development Zone—ranked 26th in the comprehensive development assessment of national-level economic and technological development zones, placing first in western China.
