The Dalian Pulandian Economic Development Zone was established in June 1992. In October 2002, it was upgraded to a provincial-level economic development zone. In 2004, after undergoing reclamation and redevelopment using abandoned salt fields, it was renamed the Dalian Bay Industrial Zone by the Dalian Municipal Government and designated as one of the “One Island, Ten Zones” prioritized for development and construction.In April 2008, the development status of the Dalian Bay Industrial Zone reached a new level—it was designated as a key development area under Liaoning Province’s “Five Points and One Line” strategy and incorporated into the unified planning and key construction areas of Dalian’s new urban districts.
