The Xuzhou Industrial Park is located east of Xuzhou City and south of Jiawang District. Established in November 2001, it was approved by the municipal government as a municipal-level development zone in 2005 and by the provincial government as a provincial-level economic development zone in April 2006. It is one of the nine provincial-level or higher development zones in Xuzhou.The long-term planned total area is 111 square kilometers, with a medium-term planned area of 76 square kilometers. The zone currently administers and jointly develops an area of 28.46 square kilometers, with 13.8 square kilometers already developed. This has formed a “three-pronged” structure comprising the Xijia Industrial Park (a joint development between the north and south), the supporting industrial park of the Xuzhou Economic Development Zone, and the Jiawang District Chemical Industry Park. It is a national-level intellectual property pilot zone.
