The Suzhou Industrial Park is a major cooperative project between the governments of China and Singapore, serving as a key window through which the world views China, Jiangsu, and Suzhou. Established in February 1994 with the approval of the State Council, the Park covers an administrative area of 278 square kilometers, including an 80-square-kilometer China-Singapore Cooperation Zone, and has a permanent resident population of over 1.37 million.
In 2024, the Park achieved a regional gross domestic product (GDP) of 400.24 billion yuan, representing a year-on-year increase of 7.0% at constant prices; general public budget revenue reached 41.53 billion yuan, up 1.0% on a comparable basis; total industrial output value of enterprises above designated size amounted to 690.92 billion yuan, up 4.9%; fixed-asset investment totaled 68.37 billion yuan, up 15.3%;total retail sales of consumer goods reached 122.30 billion yuan; total imports and exports amounted to 691.43 billion yuan; and actual utilization of foreign capital stood at 1.99 billion U.S. dollars. The service sector accounted for 53.0% of GDP.
Over the past 30 years of development and construction, the park has actively explored a development path that integrates openness with innovation, innovation with industry, and industry with urban development. High-quality development has continuously reached new heights, achieving nine consecutive first-place finishes in the comprehensive evaluation of national-level economic and technological development zones and rising to fourth place in the comprehensive ranking of national high-tech zones. It has also been included in the Ministry of Science and Technology’s list of world-class high-tech parks under construction.
