The Wuxi High-Tech Zone was established in 1992 following approval by the State Council and the provincial government. In 1995, with the approval of the municipal Party committee and municipal government, the Wuxi New District was established, operating under a management model of “one administrative team, two names” alongside the High-Tech Zone.In 2015, with the approval of the State Council and the provincial government, Xinwu District was established based on Wuxi High-Tech Zone and Wuxi New District.On February 20, 2016, Xinwu District was officially inaugurated, implementing a “unified district administration” management system for both the High-Tech Zone and Xinwu District, thereby fostering the “High-Tech Zone Spirit” characterized by openness, innovation, pragmatism, and a sense of responsibility.
In recent years, Wuxi High-Tech Zone (Xinwu District) has focused on becoming a new hub for scientific and technological innovation, modern industry, and opening up to the outside world. In areas such as industrial development, scientific and technological innovation, and opening up to the outside world, it has taken the lead in the province and even nationwide.
