The Wuxi Huishan Economic Development Zone was established in July 2001 and was approved by the provincial government as a provincial-level economic development zone in February 2002. Its total planned area is 76 square kilometers, with the first phase covering 36 square kilometers.Over the past decade, the Huishan Economic Development Zone has grown from nothing to something, expanding from small beginnings to a larger scale. It has evolved from initial haphazard settlement to categorized development, and from simple corporate clustering to industrial agglomeration. Transforming from a once-remote rural area, it has developed into a modern new city integrating administration, economy, culture, science and education, commerce, and leisure—taking one step at a time and continuously creating one miracle after another.The Huishan Economic Development Zone has undergone a magnificent transformation, initially establishing a new city of Huishan with comprehensive facilities and well-developed functions. It has now become an important sub-center of northern Wuxi.
