The Yangzhou High-Tech Industrial Development Zone is located in the southwestern part of downtown Yangzhou. Formerly known as the Hanjiang Industrial Park, construction began in 2001. In 2006, it was approved by the provincial government as a provincial-level economic development zone; in 2012, it was officially renamed the Jiangsu Yangzhou High-Tech Industrial Development Zone; and in 2015, it was upgraded to a national high-tech industrial development zone.The Yangzhou High-Tech Zone has a total planned area of approximately 60 square kilometers, encompassing 9 villages and 2 communities, with a built-up area already reaching 20.2 square kilometers. Over the years, the Yangzhou High-Tech Zone has attracted renowned domestic and international enterprises such as U.S.-based Strong, Germany’s Trumpf, Hong Kong’s HSBC, Sinomach Group, Sinopharm Group, Greenland Group, Perfect Cosmetics, and Lianchuang Software.Through years of cultivation and development, Yangzhou High-Tech Zone has gradually formed an industrial development pattern centered on “one mainstay and three emerging sectors”—with CNC equipment manufacturing as the mainstay and biotechnology, new optoelectronics, and modern services as supporting pillars. It has established a series of innovation platforms focused on scientific and technological R&D, including the Yangzhou Center of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (a national-level technology transfer demonstration institution), the Jiangsu Provincial CNC Machine Tool Research Institute, and the Tsinghua University Intelligent Equipment Research Institute. The zone has also meticulously developed a number of themed entrepreneurial platforms, such as the High-Tech Entrepreneurship Service Center (a national-level technology incubator),Yangzhou University Science and Technology Park, and Jinrong Science and Technology Park. The zone has been honored with titles including the National Torch Program Industrial Base for CNC Metal Sheet Processing Equipment, National Cultural Industry Demonstration Base, Jiangsu Provincial Demonstration Base for New Industrialization, and Jiangsu Provincial Demonstration Industrial Base for High-End Equipment.
