Development Zone Introduction
The Zhangjiagang Economic and Technological Development Zone was established in 1993 and is located in the central urban area of Zhangjiagang, a National Model City. In September 2008, it implemented integrated management with Chengguan Town and Yangshe Town. In 2011, it was upgraded to a national-level development zone. The zone covers an area of 153 square kilometers, with a total population of 530,000 and a registered population of 280,000.It administers four urban subdistrict offices—Chengdong, Chengnan, Chengxi, and Chengbei—and five suburban subdistrict offices—Sihang, Tangshi, Chenghang, Donglai, and Chenyang—managing 51 communities and 23 administrative villages.
Located in the heart of the Yangtze River Delta—one of the world’s most dynamic economic regions with the most convenient transportation networks—the Economic and Technological Development Zone has, after more than 20 years of development, successfully joined the ranks of the top national-level development zones and secured a spot among the top ten “Chinese Parks with the Greatest Development Potential.”In recent years, the district and its towns have begun to establish a modern industrial system centered on smart manufacturing and remanufacturing, green energy, and semiconductor chips, while featuring modern service industries such as international trade, service outsourcing, software and animation, and headquarters economy. Focusing on building a “National Smart Equipment Industry Base,” the zone is committed to establishing the most competitive and exemplary smart equipment industry base in the country.
