Park Overview
Established in July 2010, the Qilin Science and Technology Innovation Park is located in the southeast of Nanjing’s urban core, nestled between Purple Mountain and Qinglong Mountain. It borders the Xianlin University Town to the north and the Jiangning University Town to the south. The park has a total planned area of 83 square kilometers, with 46.15 square kilometers currently under development. In recent years, the park has closely focused on the mission entrusted by the municipal Party committee and government to “build a core hub for the National Regional Science and Technology Innovation Center and a hub for national strategic scientific and technological capabilities,” and has concentrated its efforts on building a “vibrant city of innovation, a city of strong technological and industrial capabilities, and a charming, eco-friendly, and livable city.”
Housing strategic forces to build a vibrant city of innovation. The park has consistently upheld scientific and technological innovation as its core mission, comprehensively establishing itself as a regional innovation hub for the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS). It has become one of the regions outside Beijing with the highest concentration of CAS innovation resources: the Institute of Industrial Artificial Intelligence, a research institution directly under the CAS, has been established in the park and has been approved as the Jiangsu Provincial Key Laboratory of Industrial Artificial Intelligence and the Innovation Center for Embodied Intelligence Technology; The park has successively established core facilities such as the CAS Qilin Science and Technology Park, the Nanjing Campus of the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, and the Artificial Intelligence Industrial Park. The CAS Institute of Soil Science, the Institute of Geography and Limnology, and the Institute of Astronomy and Optics have relocated and settled here; major scientific and technological infrastructure projects such as the “Information High-Speed Rail Comprehensive Test,” “Open-Source Software Supply Chain,” and “100-Megawatt-Class Compressed Air Energy Storage” have been established in the park, actively integrating into national strategic initiatives such as “East Data, West Computing,” open-source code, and new energy storage; The park has successively introduced six research institutes from the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and established seven research academies, attracting over 2,000 “CAS-affiliated” professionals. It has jointly built transformation service platforms such as the CAS (Nanjing) Zhihui Workshop and established a “5V-in-One” cooperative model for mutual benefit with relevant CAS institutes. Multiple achievements, including the CAS Silicon Era “Agile Hand,” have been successfully commercialized within the park.
Focusing on emerging industries, we are building a city of technological and industrial strength. The park continues to unleash the momentum of new-quality productive forces, anchoring its development in leading industries such as artificial intelligence to comprehensively build the Qilin AI City: In collaboration with Cambricon, it established the Nanjing Intelligent Computing Center, which was approved as one of the nation’s first and the province’s only National New-Generation Artificial Intelligence Public Computing Power Open Innovation Platform. With Phase II computing power reaching 900 PFLOPS, it has become the largest and most powerful fully domestically produced intelligent computing center in the Yangtze River Delta region; The municipal government and China Huaneng Group have jointly established China Energy Valley within the park and launched the IEC International Standards Promotion Center (Nanjing), hosting major events such as the International Standardization (Qilin) Conference and the China Standardization Conference; The park has attracted over 120 leading AI enterprises and research institutes, including 9 national-level and 56 provincial-level "Specialized, Refined, Unique, and Innovative" (SRUI) "Little Giant" enterprises. A cluster of leading enterprises spanning the upstream, midstream, and downstream of the industry chain has formed, including Cambricon, Zhongke Entropy, Nanxi Xiance, Jingyao Intelligence, and Huayun Tianxia.
Surrounded by mountains, water, cities, and forests, the park is building an eco-friendly, livable, and charming city. The park boasts a rich historical and cultural heritage, featuring China’s oldest surviving Southern Dynasties stone carvings, as well as the Qilin and Tianlu stone carvings at the Chuning Tomb, which date back over 1,600 years; The natural landscape is uniquely charming. As a key ecological corridor for Nanjing, the park features three rivers—Yunliang River, Shangba River, and Baishui River—along with 7.2 million square meters of green space and waterfront scenery, as well as the 1.5 million-square-meter Qilin Ecological Park; The park enjoys significant transportation and geographical advantages. It is located just 10 kilometers from the city center as the crow flies, with six expressway access points. It is a 20-minute drive from Nanjing South Railway Station and a 40-minute drive from Lukou International Airport. The S6 Intercity Railway (Ningju Line) has two stations within the park, and the Shiyang Road Station on Metro Line 10 is situated along the park’s perimeter, ensuring a convenient and efficient internal and external transportation network.
