The Yizheng Economic Development Zone was established in 1992 and was approved as a provincial-level economic development zone in 1993; it is one of the 14 key development zones in Jiangsu Province.In February 2005, the development zone was relocated and rebuilt, with a new area established in the Shierwei region (now the southern section of Xincheng Town). In 2019, as the province promoted the implementation of the “one zone, multiple parks” reform, the Yizheng Economic Development Zone established a “one zone, three parks” management structure.In November 2022, the Yizheng Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government made decisions to further deepen institutional and mechanism reforms in the development zone. They clarified that the Automotive Industrial Park and the Big Data Industrial Park would be fully integrated into the Yizheng Economic Development Zone and placed under its direct management, while the Chemical Industrial Park would operate independently. Additionally, they established a development model featuring integrated development between the Yizheng Economic Development Zone and Xincheng Town.
