Established in 1992 and designated as a provincial-level development zone in 1995, it has a planned area of 22 square kilometers.It is situated at the intersection of three major economic zones—the Yangtze River Delta, the Jiangsu coastal region, and the area along the Longhai Railway—and is in close proximity to Lianyungang Airport, Donghai County High-Speed Rail Station, the Tongsan Expressway, and the Lianhuo Expressway, with Lianyungang Port just 70 kilometers away.It has been successively designated as a National Torch Program Silicon Materials Industrial Base, a National Semiconductor (Silicon Materials) Industrial Cluster Standardization Demonstration Zone, and a National-Level New Materials High-Tech Industrial Base, and has ranked first for eight consecutive years in the evaluation of provincial-level development zones in Lianyungang.With over 1,000 enterprises operating within the zone, it has developed four major pillar industries: deep processing of silicon resources (represented by Pacific Semiconductor Materials and Hongyang Quartz); food manufacturing (represented by Dingweitai Foods); machinery and auto parts (represented by Jikain Machinery); and light textiles and apparel (represented by Baide Nonwovens).
