The Lianyungang Economic and Technological Development Zone was one of the first national-level development zones established in December 1984 with the approval of the State Council. Located in the eastern part of Lianyungang City, adjacent to the port, it has an administrative area of 193 square kilometers andwith a population of approximately 200,000. It comprises three subdistricts—Zhongyun, Chaonayang, and Houzui—and two salt fields—Beipei and Qingkou.
The zone actively leverages the unique advantages of the “three-zone integration”—as a national-level development zone, a pilot free trade zone, and a comprehensive bonded zone—focusing on the development of “3+N” leading industries, including new pharmaceuticals, new materials, high-end equipment manufacturing, and emerging business models. The output value of high-tech industries accounts for 77.7% of the total industrial output value of enterprises above designated size.
