Park Overview
The Tangshan Nanbu Economic Development Zone is an integral part of Tangshan’s Caofeidian District. Established in 1991, it was approved as a provincial-level development zone by the Hebei Provincial Government in 1995 and is one of the five major chemical industry bases in Hebei Province. The zone has a total planned area of 394 square kilometers, with an urban planning area of 26 square kilometers and a total population of 54,000.In 2016, it was designated as the “China Marine Chemical Industry (Nanbu) Industrial Base” by the China National Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation. In 2018, it was awarded the title of “Demonstration Base for Emerging Industrialization and Industrialization (Chemical Industry Category)” by the Office of the Leading Group for Building a Manufacturing Powerhouse in Hebei Province.
Industrial Overview
The zone is home to 86 industrial enterprises of various types, including 2 large state-owned enterprises, 2 A-share listed companies, 7 foreign-invested enterprises, and 46 enterprises above designated size. These primarily operate in industries such as salt-alkali chemicals, fine chemicals, chemical fibers, titanium materials, and silicon materials. After more than 30 years of development and construction, the Nanbu Economic Development Zone has formed three major industries centered on marine chemicals: upstream sea salt production, midstream “two alkalis and one chemical,” and downstream comprehensive utilization of chlorine, thereby establishing a circular industrial system for marine chemicals.

Geographical and Transportation Advantages
Roads: Located at the heart of the “Bohai Rim Economic Zone” and within the core area of the “Tianjin-Tangshan-Caofeidian Half-Hour Economic Circle,” the Nanbao Development Zone boasts superior geographical and transportation advantages. A dense network of roads crisscrosses the zone, while external roadways provide extensive connectivity. The Coastal Expressway, Tangshan-Caofeidian Expressway, Zunhua-Caofeidian Expressway, and Coastal Highway integrate the Nanbao Economic Development Zone with the ports of Tianjin and Caofeidian.
Industrial Resource Advantages
Upstream Raw Salt Industry Series: Annual production of 1.8 million tons of raw salt, the largest output in Asia. Midstream “Two Alkalis and One Chemical” Industry Series: Annual production of 3.5 million tons of soda ash, 800,000 tons of viscose staple fiber, 500,000 tons of caustic soda, 400,000 tons of PVC, 100,000 tons of specialty resins, and 200,000 tons of silicones, with global-leading production of soda ash and viscose staple fiber.Downstream Chlorine Comprehensive Utilization Industry Series: Annual production of 200,000 tons of silicones, 80,000 tons of trichlorosilane, 30,000 tons of high-purity silicon tetrachloride, 100,000 tons of potassium hydroxide, 60,000 tons of potassium sulfate, 6,000 tons of fumed silica, 100,000 tons of lithium carbonate/lithium hydroxide 100,000 tons, carbon materials 100,000 tons, and chlorination-based titanium dioxide 1 million tons. Among these, trichlorosilane accounts for 70% of the national market share, and the company ranks third nationally in overall silicones production capacity.
