A national-level economic and technological development zone, established in 2010 with the approval of the State Council, is located on the southern coast of Tangshan City. With a planned area of 380 square kilometers, it serves as a key hub for the coordinated development of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region. The zone focuses on developing industries such as high-quality steel, heavy machinery, port logistics, petrochemical and new materials, and new energy. It is home to leading enterprises including Shougang Jingtang, CNPC LNG, China Resources Power, and Sanyou Chemical.The zone is home to Caofeidian Port, which handles over 500 million tons of cargo annually and is directly connected to the port via a dedicated railway. By 2025, the zone aims to achieve a total industrial output value exceeding 320 billion yuan, with the steel industry cluster alone contributing over 160 billion yuan. The zone is designated as a National Circular Economy Demonstration Zone and the Caofeidian Sub-zone of the Hebei Free Trade Zone. It benefits from the combined advantages of national-level economic and technological development zones, free trade zones, and coastal opening-up policies.
