Established in 1992, the Chengde High-Tech Industrial Development Zone was upgraded to a national-level high-tech industrial development zone in 2012 following approval by the State Council. It is one of five national-level high-tech industrial development zones in Hebei Province. Since its inception, the Chengde High-Tech Industrial Development Zone has remained committed to its founding mission of "developing high-tech industries and achieving industrialization," and has been fully dedicated to building itself into a "demonstration zone for innovation-driven development, a leading zone for new-quality productive forces, and a pioneer zone for high-quality development."
