Leveraging this project as a foundation, the economic zone is actively attracting investment by welcoming biotech projects relocating from eastern and central China, as well as biotech enterprises from Lanzhou city proper moving from urban areas into industrial parks. The zone is implementing a unified plan to construct GMP-compliant pharmaceutical facilities, thereby improving land utilization and shortening the time-to-market for enterprises. The goal is to establish a production-oriented biopharmaceutical industrial park that integrates manufacturing, R&D, logistics, marketing, testing, new drug applications, and healthcare services. [1]
Upon completion, the “Western Pharmaceutical Valley” will adopt a spatial layout comprising “one core, two centers, and three zones.”The “One Core” refers to institutions responsible for drug testing and new drug applications. The “Two Centers” are the Exhibition and Trade Center and the Financial Service Center. The “Three Zones” are the Modern Traditional Chinese Medicine Manufacturing and Herbal Export Processing Zone, the High-Tech Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Zone, and the Medical Device Manufacturing Zone. This project serves as the core platform of the Lanzhou National Bio-industry Base. Upon completion, it is projected to generate an output value of 10 billion yuan within three years and 20 billion yuan within five years.
