The Lu'an Economic and Technological Development Zone is located in the eastern part of Lu'an's main urban area. Established in 1992, it was approved by the provincial government as a provincial-level development zone in May 1993 and upgraded to a national-level economic and technological development zone with the approval of the State Council in March 2013. The zone has a planned controlled area of 90 square kilometers and a permanent population of over 100,000.In 2024, the zone’s gross regional product (GRP) grew by 5.7% year-on-year; industrial value-added from enterprises above designated size increased by 6.9% year-on-year; total fixed-asset investment across society rose by 4.7% year-on-year, with industrial investment growing by 35.2% and investment in technological transformation increasing by 18.8%; and total retail sales of consumer goods across society grew by 4.2% year-on-year.
